Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for details.
A senior political figure stated the incident left him speechless and had to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
