Large-scale Moscow's Strikes Cut Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine

Throughout the evening, Russian aerial assaults have caused power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and faced disruption to drinking water, according to municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, based on information from regional authorities.

Russian forces has intensified attacks on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the United States, Europe and the major economies - in delivering protection systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty rockets attacked the country's power systems, labeling such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were striving to fix the damage.

A series of attacks hit energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the attacks on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Local officials said the metropolitan region experienced significant strikes during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child was killed and several individuals were hurt.

The assaults follow evenings of air raids in the region, sections of which are currently controlled by Moscow's military.

The entire country is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to identify.

Government officials told reporters that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the national power system, with assaults already affecting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and authorities were anticipating more assaults.
